Lettres, Mémoires et Avis au Roy depuis le mois de juin 1610 jusqu'en 1622 [suivi de] Diverses lettres interceptées du temps du Cardinal de Richelieu en 1634, et autres pièces et lettres depuis 1610 jusques en 1639 In French, manuscript on paper France, end of XVIIth century 2 volumes in-folio, respectively vol. I : title + 292 ff ; vol. II : title + 373 ff. in very neat cursive writing. Bindings in full glazed blond calf, spines with 6 nerves partitioned and decorated with flowers, leather title-pieces with gilt lettering, triple gilt fillet framing the boards, gilt coat of arms pushed to the center of the boards (see Provenance below), red edges, marbled paper turned. Good general condition but restoration at the tail of the spine of the first volume; lower cap of the second volume fragile, corners dulled, some spotting and rubbing. Very fresh interior. Size of leaves: 230 x 360 mm; size of bindings: 243 x 367 mm. Provenance: 1. Bound with the arms of Samuel-Jacques Bernard (1686-1753), count of Coubert. He was the son of the famous banker Samuel Bernard (1651-1739). Samuel-Jacques Bernard was appointed master of requests, then superintendent of the house, estates and finances of the queen in May 1725. Binding with the arms of Samuel-Jacques Bernard: Azure an anchor argent, senesced in chief with a star of the same, radiating or; motto: "Bellicae Virtutis Praemium" (motto of the Order of St. Louis) [OHR 1043]. Samuel-Jacques Bernard had many volumes bound in his arms: his important library was sold at auction in 1754 and 1756. - 2 Sir Thomas Phillipps Collection, MS 3146 (Middle Hill) and MS 3144 (Middle Hill), a famous "bibliomaniac. - 3. ex-libris vignette pasted on the upper back cover of the second volume: René de Galard-Brassac-Béarn. - 4. ex-libris vignette of Doctor Lucien-Graux, pasted on the upper back cover.
