JAPAN, Edo period, 18th-19th century.
Black lacquered bajô-gasa type jingasa, decorated with four series of vertical gold lacquered stripes radiating from a tehen kanomono in the form of a double chrysanthemum flower, and enhanced in the front part with a mon ageha-no chô, "butterfly with raised wings", main coat of arms of the Taira family ; the interior is gold lacquered.
