LOUIS XV.
Autograph letter signed "Louis" to the duke of Parma and Plaisance, Ferdinand de Bourbon. Palace of Compiègne, September 21, 1766. 1 p. in-4, address on the back with red wax armorial seal kept. "My dear grandson, is it true that the pce de Brunvick resembles your poor father, I would believe it enough by this portrait, and by all that I was told. I had another good cold, but it is better since I took some whey for two days, and a little theriac in the evening. Summer has come back to us, and I had more heat yesterday while hunting than I have had all year. This will do a lot of good for the harvest. We are all leaving here in the course of this week, so my first letter will be from Versailles. I kiss you very tenderly, my dear little son... Yesterday we had a beautiful ceremony which was that of the ordination which was done by the bishop of Soissons in the chapel, there were twenty-nine ordinands.
Grandson of Louis XV by his mother, and grandson of King Bourbon of Spain, Ferdinand de Bourbon had the Abbé de Condillac as his tutor.
