History
Prince Alexander Nikititch Volkonsky was the nephew of the Decembrist S. G. Volkonsky and served as a private adviser to the Foreign Office in Saxony and from 1860 to 1870 in Spain and Italy. He was a writer but also a collector of paintings and sculptures.
