Porcelain cup and saucer of the Babigon service, decorated with a frieze of flowers in gold on a light grey background, bordered with purple fillets and jagged golden friezes, the cup's handle in the form of a scroll and the center of the saucer decorated with a golden rose. Imperial Porcelain Manufactory, Alexander III period, 1891 (saucer) and Nicolas II period, 1895 (cup). Marks with the green stamp. H. 7,6 cm (cup) ; D. 14 cm (saucer). History The Babigon service embodies the classical elegance of porcelain production by the Imperial Manufactory during the reign of Tsar Alexander I. The service was created in 1823-1824 and was intended for the Peterhof Palace. In 1857, part of the service was transferred to the newly built Belvedere Palace on Babigon Hill near Peterhorf, from which it got its name.
