Helmet mask/ inverted mask, grassland Cameroon, Bekom (?) o. Western Cameroon, Cross River region. Impressive anthropomorphic mask/ full head, grotesque male face. Wood, carved, remains of real hair trimming on brows, upper lip, chin and back of head, red pigment in nostrils and lip, white and black pigment in area of eyeballs. Probably real teeth. At the crown old putty. Authentic age patina. With metal base. H. ca. 25 cm. Provenance: Peer Hultberg Collection (1935-2007), Hamburg.
