JAPAN - EDO PERIOD (17° - 19° CENTURY) impressive "O-yoroi": a complete Japanese samurai armor worn by the higher-ranking samurai on horseback, consisting of a chest armor ("Do") of the "Do-maru Gusoku" type. The helmet is a "34-ken Fukurinsuji kabuto" consisting of a "hachi" composed of several wavy "hagi-no-ita" plates with a gilded crescent moon as the front decoration ("maedaite"). The side decoration ("Wakidate") consists of two buffalo horns. The face mask is of the "Mempo" type and features a mustache in black lacquered metal. The armor has matching sleeves ("Koto's") of the Tsutsu type and shoulder pads with lacing ("O-sode's") of the "Shoji naita" type.
