Engraved figured frontispiece, dedication card, portrait of author within oval, portrait of curator Giovanni Battista Soria, 24 engraved plates with plans of tabernacles (lightly browned, a few scribbles on a few plates.) Coeval vellum binding with traces of a manuscript title to spine.
In miscellany with Montano's Diversi ornamenti capricciosi per depositi o altari in the Roman edition of 1625 with figured frontispiece, dedication card, portrait of the curator Soria and 38 engraved plates, and the Raccolta de' tempij, et sepolcri disegnati dall'antico by Giovanni Battista Montano at Rome in 1638 with engraved figured frontispiece, and 27 engraved plates.
First editions by Montano who was an atypical draughtsman and engraver devoting himself mainly to ancient art. His work, published posthumously by his pupil Soria, had a great influence throughout Europe until the 18th century, starting with the very leading exponents of the Roman Baroque, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Pietro da Cortona, and Francesco Borromini.
