The decoration of this suite of four armchairs with their sofa is the same for all the seats. The frieze of heart-shaped stripes that decorates the perimeter of the hat backs continues on the arms. The acanthus on the shoulders is found on the arm supports while the triglyphs sculpted at the base echo the fluted crosspiece. This clever decorative system evokes the salon furniture of Marie-Antoinette that Dupain made for Saint-Cloud, where a frieze of oves runs around the backrest and the armrests (fig. 1). Our living room furniture is here upholstered with a tapestry in the point with branching flowers and foliage on a yellow background, from the same Period. We also note the nice turning of the spiral legs.
