Basswood and Boulle marquetry H. 37 cm ; W. 36 cm ; D. 16.5 cm
Rare molded, carved and gilded limewood bracket with sphinxes supported by flowered crosses framing the backsplash with a monogram surmounted by a ram's head; shell base and garlands of flowers. It supports a tray in marquetry known as "Boulle" in brass, brown tortoiseshell and pewter centered on a large rose window in a background of foliage, the mantling around it, the cover surrounded by a chased and gilded bronze ring with foliage and flowers (reported).
