Morocco, early 19th century Deep bowl and lid with round handle called "tuma", in ceramic glazed with a white slip and a polychrome decoration enhanced with touches of minium. 29 x 23 cm. The word "jobbana" comes from the Arabic word "jben" which means cheese. Initially, this pot with a lid was used in Morocco to curdle milk, but it was also used to preserve butter or to serve harira, a soup with which the fast was broken on Ramadan evenings.
