Henriette Browne [1829-1901] is a French painter and engraver recognized of her time. She was trained by Charles Chaplin and Emile Perrin. She is considered by historiography as one of the pioneers in Orientalist painting and was recognized in her time. This engraving seems to follow her trip to Turkey, Syria and Egypt during the years 1868 and 1869.
