L'ATLANTIDE. Lyon, Cercle Lyonnais du livre, 1934. Large volume in-4° in ff, 304 pp, 6 ff. Folded cover, folder, case. Illustrated by Paul-Elie DUBOIS with 89 compositions (paintings, drawings and sketches) engraved on wood in colors by Pierre BOUCHET. The ornate letters printed in black and gold are adapted from Tuareg ornaments and decorative motifs. In fine list of the members of the Cercle Lyonnais. Limited edition of 162 copies all on Arches vellum. Our copy is one of the 120 nominative copies for the members of the Cercle, containing pp. 1-2 and 7-8 changed according to the announcement made by Pierre Bouchet following a defective initial print run, complete with the plates replaced on pp. 185-192 and 241-242, 247-248 and accompanied by two unpublished plates in black. Nice copy. The painter Paul-Elie DUBOIS was part of the official mission sent to the Hoggar in 1928. It was the first time that a painter went through this mysterious region. He brought back a lot of paintings, drawings, sketches and decorative documents, and it is the whole of his work that the Cercle Lyonnais du Livre wanted to preserve for the future.
