In 1902, Pierre Cartier and his younger brother, Jacques, moved across the Channel to London in order to set up the first boutique at 4 New Burlington Street, in the most sought-after area of the great capital. It took them only two years to become the official supplier to the Crown, with the support of King Edward VII. Having suffered the patina of time with some accidents and missing enamel, this piece demonstrates the quality of the execution on the enamel, directly inspired by Faberge's work, at the same time for the Russian imperial court. Rare as it comes with its original case, it is the symbol of the first hours of glory of the House of Cartier, considered since then as "the king of jewellers and the jewellers of kings".
