[Autographs] Casimir DELAVIGNE (Le Havre 1793-1843) Poet and playwright. Five autographed letters, two of which are addressed to the poet Evariste Boulay-Paty, one to congratulate him on the success of his Ode à l'Arc de Triomphe de l'Etoile, dated from the Madeleine, July 29, 1837, the other to invite him to taste a delicious truffled poularde "which has the honor to be eaten by you". A third letter is addressed to the Librarian of the King, at the Palais Royal, to send him two reserved seats at the theater. The last two letters are also invitations to dinner, one is sent to his friend Duputel, on December 9, 1834, the other is dated January 1832. Attached to these autograph letters is a letter from Maître Bernard to the chatelaine of Bellevue, Madame Lecomte, at the end of which Casimir Delavigne has added five lines punctuated by a signature "ton poète, comique pour le moment", and some autograph verses from the 4th act of his play "Le Paria" performed in 1821. These letters from the poet are accompanied by a letter from his wife Elise, inviting his friend Boulay-Paty to visit him, and by four letters from his brother Germain, curator of the Furniture of the Crown and director of the King's "menus plaisirs", also addressed to the poet, or to Vatout, intendant general of the civil list of the house of Orleans, whom he charges on behalf of his brother Casimir, with a recommendation to H.H. the Duke of Orleans, in favor of a friend.
