Pierre Billon directed this film, released in February 1948, with Jean Marais in the title role (and that of Don César de Bazan), and Danielle Darrieux as the Queen of Spain.
The manuscript, written in blue ballpoint pen on lined paper, is dated at the end "La Roche-Posay August 13, 1946 4 o'clock". It presents erasures and corrections. 3 sheets are attached to the manuscript: a Notice explains the problems posed by this adaptation, and that the same artist will interpret the roles of Ruy Blas and Don Caesar; "indications for the set designer and the director"; and a presentation: "Ruy Blas must be a real and unreal film"...
