[PROUDHON, Pierre-Joseph]. AUDEBRAND, Philibert. P.-J.Proudhon and the horsewoman of the racetrack. Scènes de la vie littéraire, Paris : Librairie Frédéric Henry, [1868]. In-18 (11,9 cm x 7,7 cm) of 67 p. Paperback, grey printed publisher's cover. Nice copy (spine unstained, small wetness at the foot returning to the boards). Rare first edition printed in a very small number. Text written by Philibert Audebrand (1815-1906) evoking the circumstances of Gabriel Vicaire's mystification of which Pierre-Joseph Proudhon was victim. It seems that Vicaire is one of the pseudonyms of Ludovic Picard, whose identity remains uncertain. This character is known to have mystified many personalities such as George Sand, Heinrich Heine or Victor Hugo. Provenance: sent by the author: "To Aug[ustin] Challamel Hommage amical Philibert Audebrand".
