Curious and rare inkwell. China, second half of the 19th century. Hand-painted porcelain. It presents light faults in the fingers of two personages. Measurements: 11.5 x 13 x 9 cm. This particular inkwell is formed by a sculptural group of four courtly characters arranged in a pyramidal shape. All of them turn their faces towards a set of four inkwells which are raised in front of them and which show seated figures. At a formal level, the careful coloring of the group stands out, especially in the bright kimonos worn by the figures, as well as the fine lines that define each bowl.
