Chéret Jules (1836-1932) - The characters of the carnival. 1907. Pencil, charcoal, and watercolor drawing on paper. Signed and dated in pencil in the lower right corner. A trace of wetness. A trace of tape on the back of the lower left corner. 23x31cm. In a modern frame. This remarkable drawing is the preparatory sketch for the fresco realized by the artist in the Cheret gallery of the actual prefecture of Nice, in the Alpes Maritime. In the center of the composition is a space left vacant for the door. On the third photo, the fresco in situ.
