Bust in white marble
Titled " MARCUS (AG)RIPPA " (sic) on the pedestal 75 x 82 cm on a marble pedestal (H. 21 cm)
Wear and small accidents
This marble work representing the emperor Agrip- pa was executed from a famous antique dated in the second half of the first century B.C., offered in the 16th century to Lorenzo de Medici.
This most representative portrait of Agrippa, son-in-law and successor of the first emperor Augustus, must have originally belonged to a series of busts of emperors, such as princely houses in sixteenth-century Italy first, and then in those of adjacent countries in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, used to keep in all Antica galleries.
