A WHITE JADE CARVED ELEPANTH PLAQUE MOUNTED ON A GILT COPPER A BOX China, late 18th / early 19th century  Carved as a landscape scene with a pagoda in the upper left hand corner the central image of the scene depicts a large elephant together with an attendant. Covered wearing a tasseled saddle the elephant is supporting a treasure vase (baoping).  The stone is of white tone and mounted as the lid in a gilt-copper box engraved with flowers.
