Very rare saber for the regiment of Volontaires de Clermont-Prince 1758 - 1766. Hungarian style brass mounting, long cap attached to the fusee by a nail, leather-covered fusee, two-pronged side shell, flat-backed blade engraved "Régiment des Volontaires de Clermont Prince" under a rearing horse and on the back "Jean K ...." followed but illegible by "fabriqueur à Solingen" (usual signature of Jean Knecht). Total length 101 cm, blade 88,5 cm, width at the heel 40 mm, arrow 55 mm, SF. This sword, from the former M. Pétard collection, was used to illustrate Aries (3rd issue 1969) and its article in Tradition Magazine n°93, October 1994.
