Ring: extremely rare vintage/antique designer ring, brilliant-cut diamond of 10.63ct, Pierre Sterlé Paris, ca. 1940 Approx. Ø17.5mm, ring size 55, approx. 15g, 18K white gold, band and ring head consist of braided and knotted strands, ring head is set on all four sides with a drop diamond, each approx. 0.5ct, the extremely high quality and large brilliant-cut diamond has a weight of 10.63ct, colour M and clarity SI1, current HRD certificate Antwerp. The band is signed Sterlé Paris, A 1940. Pierre Sterlé (1905-1978) was a French jeweller known as the 'couturier of jewellery'. He was considered an inspired innovator during his lifetime, reaching his peak in the 1940s and 50s. He was considered one of the most innovative Parisian jewellers of the mid-century. Pierre Sterlé quickly acquired an international client base and international reputation. In 1950, he received a visit from King Farouk of Egypt, who commissioned a crown for his wife, Queen Narriman. His reputation was established when he won the De Beers Diamond Award, a major award in the jewellery industry, which he received for three consecutive years, in 1953, 1954 and 1955.
