A RARE SOUTH INDIAN MEDIEVAL SWORD, PROBABLY 15TH CENTURY, in patinated condition, with curved single-edged blade formed with a short projection half way along the back-edge, iron hilt extending over the lower portion of the blade with a pair of finally pierced shaped plates, including angular figure-of-eight shaped guard chased with flowerheads (small holes and chips), and wooden cushion-shaped pommel with finely pierced iron tall conical stepped button, 73.8 cm blade¦¦Roy Elvis Catalogue Number C91. ¦¦Three related examples, formerly in the collection of Anthony North, were sold in this room 30th June 2010, lot 83 and another 25th June 2014, lot 29.
