[The vase becomes an explicit body; it remains a pretext for a few years. Jacqueline Lerat developed these human forms at a time when Jean was abandoning representations of the body. This sculpture was apparently not used as a vase. Various glazes were chosen for the five known examples that characterize a difficult period for the couple with Jean's illness]. F.L.
