[ACCADEMIA DEGLI OCCULTI] Rime de gli academici occulti con le loro imprese et discorsi. [ARNIGIO Bartolomeo (1523-1577), editor]. Brescia, Appresso Vincenzo di Sabbio, 1568. In-4° (245 x 170 mm approx.), green vellum of the time or beginning of the XVIIth, spine with 5 ornamented nerves, title in red morocco, yellow edges. [6] ff. of which copper-engraved title-frontispice, 128 ff, [8] ff. table, errata and printer's mark. Complete with the title-frontispiece with the motto of the Academy and Silenus flanked by Apollo and Hercules, and the 15 full-page copper-engraved plates included in the pagination with engraved frames, signed BB or Bartolomeo da Brescia (1506-1570). A collection of texts in verse by 15 Italian academicians whose identity is hidden by nicknames. Among them, are Il Desioso, the painter Francesco Ricchini, disciple of Bonvicino, and il Moretto. Headbands, lettering and woodcuts. One spine split, corners dulled and minor defects. Paper slightly yellowed, scattered pale freckles, endpapers soiled, central yellow stain between ff. 38 and 48 approximately, 6th unnumbered leaf erroneously placed after the 3rd leaf, old handwritten table in pen with comments on the back of the colophon. Leaf 19, an additional plate with an emargée has been pasted on the original plate; and folio 34 is copied and drawn formerly with a pen.. As is. A very rare copy in contemporary binding of one of the first humanist emblem books.
