The very recognizable style of his elongated, cubic figures echoes the wiry, oval heads in his paintings. Our Head of a Young Girl with Fringe recalls the sacred art of Africa, an inexhaustible source for modern artists such as Picasso, but also demonstrates the artist's knowledge of ancient artifacts from the Cyclades or Mesopotamia.
