GRZEGORZ ROSINSKI
LAMENT OF THE LOST MOORS
Sioban (T.1), Dargaud 1993
Original plate n° 27. India ink, screen, white gouache and blue pencil on paper
36.5 × 50 cm (14.37 × 19.69 in.)
Very beautiful plate of the Complainte des Landes perdues, one of the most inspired series of Jean Dufaux. It evokes the loneliness of Sioban who will soon meet a facetious animal: Ouki. Once again, Rosinski's narrative mastery is at work. To describe Sioban's state, crushed by what is happening to her, we have the landscape, with its airy, light space stretching across the moor, and the black mass of the castle that defies the sky. Above all, there is the magnificent work that the Polish artist does on the materials: the weave, the relief of the stones of the wall, which take on their full weight in the alternation of the points of view and the length of the focal points. A plate where nothing happens, but where so much is said
