A very fine and bright proof on thin laid paper, trimmed to the square line, with the visible scratches on Saskia's bust and across Rembrandt's hand, lacking the acid trace (false bite) to the right of the neck. On verso, small restored thinning at right edge and other small restorations at corners, slightly noticeable on recto. Remainder of gummed paper at head on verso (with corresponding fold marks on recto). A spot of rust on the reverse. Fragment of watermark. On verso, initialed in pen and sepia ink at foot and small annotations in pencil at upper right.
