Meissen. Designed around 1753-65 in cooperation with Peter Reinicke, made after 1973. Porcelain, coloured and gold painted. Figures: H. 12-17,5 cm, music stand: H. 9 cm. Crossed swords mark, model no. 60001-60022. Zustand Trumpeter with min. chip on the stand ring. The Monkey Chapel, consisting of 21 figures + music stand, is one of the most popular examples of the Meissen Baroque. The depiction of monkeys - 'les singeries', parodying human behaviour, was a popular theme especially in France. Drawings by the French 'Singerie' painter Christophe Huet (1694-1759) served as models for the Meissen Chapel -
