BRANCUSI CONSTANTIN (1876-1957). Portraits of LIZICA CODREANU in the studio of CONSTANTIN BRANCUSI. Set of 3 gelatin-silver negatives on glass plate, circa 1921, size 12 x 9 cm. Three photographic prints from each of the three negatives (circa 1990) are attached. Lizica Codreanu (1901-1993) arrived in Paris in the summer of 1919 with her sister Irina Codreanu, who was to become an apprentice sculptor with Brancusi. A familiar face in the studio, Lizica is pictured here posing in the sculptor's studio at 8 Impasse Ronsin in Paris. One print shows the hands of two people holding the fabric used as a background for the portrait. Provenance : former collection of Irina Codreanu.
