Sumptuous binding with a "jeweler's" decoration designed by Jules Chadel for Henri Vever (gilt bookplate; 1854-1942): jeweler, man of letters, bibliophile and collector, he was president of the Society of One Hundred Bibliophiles and an active member of the Friends of Books, of Contemporary Books and of Modern Books.
According to Crauzat (I. pp. 174-176), the bindings executed by Robert Joly for Henri Vever, "of a splendid richness and a remarkable perfection of execution, are among the most beautiful of the important library of this great amateur", estimates
