Parisiis, Ex typographia Matthaei Dauîdis, 1552. 142 pp. including title (erroneous pagination, Satyr VIII ends on page 84 and Satyr IX begins on page 77). and : P. Virgilii Maronis Georgicon libri IIII. Ad Mecoen Atem []. Parisiis : apud Thomam Richardum, 1549. 48 ff including the title. Reunion of three rare editions bound in a pt. in-4° volume (175 x 235 mm), early but later binding in blond calf (wear, split spines, worn corners), spine ribbed and decorated, arms on boards (Sunderland Library Blenheim ). Provenance: armorial bookplate Sunderland Library Blenheim Palace [library of the Dukes of Marlborough], acquired in March 1883 by Bernard Quaritch who was an astute English bookseller and collector, he had developed at that time the largest trade of old books in the world. There is also the bookplate of Olivier de Gourcuff, author among others of numerous works on Brittany. Copious old annotations in marginal ink but also between the lines, they are in a very fine handwriting and concern the work of Plautus and that of Virgil, the latter being the most extensively commented, the work of Juvenal is without. The body of the book is otherwise fresh, and the margins of the copy are quite large.
