PROVENANCE:
Former Franck Willmann collection. By descent to the present owner
Nephew of the painter Edmond Dupain (1847 - 1933), Franck Willmann lived with his parents at number 12 rue d'Alésia in the 14th arrondissement of Paris.
In parallel to his studies as an agricultural engineer, he took painting classes at the Académie Libre de la Grande Chaumière until 1946. He then frequented the painters who populated the Montparnasse district.
These two small oil paintings on cardboard were given to him just after the war by Sanyu, whom he was in contact with along with other students at the Grande Chaumière.
