The partially printed document is a receipt issued by Richardson in his capacity as an 'assignee as to Margent' of Thomas Townshend, one of the Four Tellers of His Majesty's Receipt of Exchequer, for the sum of Twenty Eight pounds and fifteen shillings, being three months annuity from an annual sum of One Hundred and fifteen pounds by virtue of an Act of Parliament 'granting to Their Majesties certain Rates and Duties on Beer, Ale, and other Liquors…' In the margin (or 'Margent') appear the names of Charles Godfrey, George Churchill and one other individual, with the amounts collected from each of them, totalling £28.15.0. A few small tears and very minor areas of paper loss to the edges, not affecting Richardson's signature. G
