Zank and Gericke Hans Zank (1889 Berlin - 1967 Falkensee) Willi Gericke (1895 Havelstadt - 1970 Falkensee) - "Flowers on the windowsill - interior" - oil/cardboard on lwd. 53 x 49 cm. On the reverse with the estate stamp as well as the work directory number. Frame. Two light scratches at the bottom. - Lit.: Hans Zank and Willy Gericke. Two important Berlin painters in an eventful period of world and art history. Verden 1987, No. 322. Willi Gericke and Hans Zank oriented themselves especially in the 1920s to expressionist artists such as Max Beckmann or Emil Nolde. Zank studied at the Leipzig Academy in 1912. His close friendship with Willy Gericke, who later studied with Johannes Walter-Kurau, began in his school days. Over the years, Zank and Gericke developed a real symbiosis. With few exceptions, no picture is signed by either of them. Then it is impossible even for connoisseurs to assign it exactly to one. Many pictures they have actually also painted together.
