(Lii) placed between hell and purgatory, a-z8, a-g8, h4 unnumbered, jansenist red morocco, spine gilt, gilt int. dent. (Thibaron-Joly).
First edition of the Commedia published by Aldus under the title de terze rime and first edition of Dante in small format printed in italic type and with the Aldus' anchor on the verso of the last leaf. The Barbier-Mueller Foundation makes it clear that there were not two issues but different states of some leaves due to accidents during the printing process. Our copy has on the last leaf the Aldus anchor, on the verso of the title page Alaghieri has not been corrected, and the A of Aedibus has been corrected on the recto. A few scattered freckles and a few small stains. Brunet II, 501.
