Ottoman set including a bolero and its miniature toque hat. First part of the 20th century. 1- The bolero is made of purple cotton velvet. The two front panels are widely embroidered with gold and silver cannetilles. We find two bands also in the back and on the shoulders. The border is embellished with a line of pompoms of cannetille. The rest (sleeves and collar) is bordered by a braid. The model is lined in ivory silk twill. 2- Small toque made of red cotton velvet. The model is entirely covered with a decorative gold metal mesh with a piece of Arabic calligraphy in the center. The edge of the hat has a chain with small crescent charms. From the top of the hat hangs a very large pompom of cannetille threads. The interior is lined with ivory silk with a stitch marking the direction to wear. The set comes with 4 unassembled yokes: 2 front panels and two back bands. 1- Some missing tassels and very slight skip of cannetille. The edge braid is unraveled in places. Nice condition of the velvet. The lining is dirty and fused in places. It has some stains on the front of the armpit and on the collar. Small repairs. 2- The hat is very fresh. Some missing links and chain. The pom-pom is a bit damaged, especially at the end. The inside is slightly tapered with storage stains. 3- The front panels do not have all the tassels otherwise nice condition. The paintings of Vincent De-Vos would make you want to see a costume for a small monkey or dog, especially since the inside of the bolero has sweat stains only on the front of the armpits corresponding more to a 4-legged position. Provenance : Trunks and attics of the Château de la Maroutière
