[Sixteenth-century book]. [Hours, Latin, 1531]. [HORE Deipare virginis Marie, secundum usum Romanum]. Paris, Y. Bonhomme, 1531. In-8, [111 (of 132 ?)] f., figs, 18th c. tan calf, spine with 5 nerves and mute, ornamented caissons, gilt roulette at the edges, red edges (worn binding, flaws including uncovered headpieces, worms' work on the lower cover; some ff. missing; snags and weaknesses at the head of 21 1st f., with head margins replaced by engraved fragments often head to tail). Extremely rare edition, published by Yolande Bonhomme, widow of Thielman Kerver, as indicated in the colophon: " Parisiis opera & impensis yolande bo[n]ho[m]e vidue spectabilis viri Thielman[n]i Kerver [] anno domini M.D.xxxi die x. Ianuari". This copy includes the leaves signed C-D 8, E 6, F-P 8, Q 6 (except Q2), R4. The illustration, entirely woodcut, consists of 39 full-page vignettes and figures framing each page, including the iconography of the danse macabre, which opens with a full-page vignette on f° I3 v° and develops in the margins until f° M1 r°.
