French school of the 19th century The first one represents Eugénie Roger née Poterin du Motel (1839-1897), only daughter of the painter. The second one represents Captain Louis Eugène Roger (1832-1912), son-in-law of the painter, married to Eugénie Poterin du Motel in 1864. Both portraits bear labels from the Paris Salon of 1870 and 1872.
