[JAPANESE AVANT-GARDE]. MURAYAMA Tomoyoshi-PISCATOR Erwin. Sayoku gekijô (Das Politische Theater). Tokyo, Chuokoron-sha, 1931. Small in-4, full publisher's yellow cloth, title on spine, red illustrated slipcase by Moholy-Nagy. First edition of the translation of Piscator's text translated by Murayama, numerous illustrations of modernist stagings and sets, Walter Mehrling, proletarian theater, Trotz Alledem's play "In spite ofeverything", Rudolf Leohard, Ernst Toller's play, Traugott Müller, Karl-Heintz Maltein's "Last Emperor", the construction of the sphere for the play "Rasputin" at the Piscator Theater. The initiator and the main animator of the MAVO group, Tomoyoshi Murayama participated actively in the avant-garde movement by producing plays, stage sets, posters or book models. He was very involved in the modern theater, especially the proletarian theater movement of the 1920s. The printed signature of Moholy Nagy on the cardboard is visible here on this copy for printing reasons, it does not appear or very little on some copies. Bibliography : .
