(1844).Grand in-8, half blue long-grained morocco with corners, spine ribbed and decorated, untrimmed, illustrated covers and spine preserved (Mercier, successor of his father, 1924). First printing. Vignettes in the text and thirty woodcut plates after Gavarni, Th. and Ed. Frère, Emy and Guérin. Attached three different illustrated leaflets and a delivery cover. An autograph note by the collector Paul Villeboeuf, attached to the copy, indicates that: "Les Etrangers à paris is the rarest illustrated work of the Romantic period to be found in paperback with its cover". A very nice copy, with all margins, in superb condition. The rare illustrated cover is preserved, complete with spine, in mint condition.
