Paris, Soulié, 1845. Large in-8, contemporary binding in brown half-chagrin with corners, percaline boards decorated with gilt fillets, spine decorated with sets of fillets, speckled edges. First printing. Ten portraits of actresses engraved on steel and numerous woodcuts in the text; framed pages historiated in black, presenting animated scenes with characters, animals, grotesques, or ornaments in colors. Nine chapters, each devoted to a work: Les Huguenots, Giselle, Le Barbier de Séville, Le Diable boiteux, La Norma, La Sylphide, Don Juan, Ondine, La Juive.
