Personal research by Paul Grimault in the early '50s on the king for his film "The shepherdess and the chimney sweep". Exceptional original piece, witness of the first pre-animation researches and final model-sheets of Paul Grimault's hand. One of the very first known drawing representing the final pre-design research of the king. This French production, adaptation of Andersen's tale of 1845, will have an impressive cast (Serge Reggiani, Pierre Brasseur, Anouk Aimée etc.) and Jacques Prévert in the script, will give some 28 years later the mythical animated film "The King and the Bird" many times awarded. Superb historical piece of French animation cinema, in an incredible condition, coming directly from one of the people who worked on the first version of the film.
