Eugénie-Marie Gadiffet-Caillard, known as Germaine Dawis, was a student and then a model of the painter Jean-Jacques Henner (1829-1905). She began her career at the Paris Salon in 1877, then joined the Salon des artistes Français in 1883.
Jean-Jacques Henner painted her portrait in 1892, which is currently kept in the collection of the Petit Palais in Paris under the inventory number PPP190.
