Senoufo helmet. Ivory Coast. Probable dating : end of 19th century or beginning of 20th century Wood and metal clasps. Rare Senufo helmet decorated with ram horns, antelope ears and buffalo horns covered with a thick ritual material. Numerous indigenous repairs with metal clasps show the prolonged and intense use of this headdress, which was headdress was the object of, as well as the care taken to preserve it over time. This helmet was probably worn during initiation ceremonies related to the Poro sect, a central element in the Senufo culture. Height : 32 cm. 32 cm high.
