A Flemish barok-style cabinet, Antwerp. C. 1700.
Blackened wood, blackened pearwood, ebony, red-tinted tortoiseshell, gilt bronze and marquetry of copper and bone.
When closed a central portico containing a niche for a gilded figurine of Minerva. Flanked by two columns on each side. Inside the portico fitted with eight small drawers of various dimensions decorated with engraved patterns and architecture depicting on the central door a noble man underneath a portico. On the left and right side of the portico a block of four drawers with gilded key plates depicting iconography related to Brabant.
The whole crowned by a balustrade depicting angels and deers, decorated with eagles on top.
On ball and clawfeet.
