Gilded and carved wood mirror decorated with a large asymmetrical shell framed with scrolls of acanthus leaves. The uprights are carved with flowers and leaves scrolling on the crosspiece. The lower crosspiece is decorated in the center with a large shell from which two large acanthus leaves rise on the sides. Mercury mirror. Louis XV period.

This asymmetrical style draws its inspiration from nature, from the mineral world and especially from conchyliology with its representations of jagged shells with stylized veins and stripes.
