Marie DESCLAUZAS (1841-1912), actress. Vintage print on albumen paper, business card size, 10.5 x 6 cm. Malvina Ernestine Armand, known as Marie Desclauzas. Her play full of finesse, verve and gaiety made her win brilliant successes in many fairy-tales, operettas and comedies. Mahalin disagrees: With her nose flapping under the tickle of an imaginary coryza, the copious Mademoiselle Lange, from La Fille de Madame Angot, always looks like she is about to sneeze... This is so true, that as soon as she enters the stage, the spectators pull out their handkerchiefs... And, look, just thinking about it, it seems to me that I have a cold... Atch!... Atch!... Atchi!.. God bless me! ! This pretty enchantress made her debut, - in 1859, - at the Cirque du boulevard du Temple in Héloïse et Abélard, the drama by Anicet Bourgeois. She played Héloïse (...) Jenneval played Abélard. At that time, she was called, on the poster, Mademoiselle D'ESCLOZAS big as Clarisse Miroy. Seeing her fill her roles so gaily, who would suspect that Mademoiselle DESCLAUZAS was shy and skinny? This thinness, was such, - formerly, - that a friend of mine said to me: - I would allow myself without scruples this woman only on Good Friday. Today, we would make her a fat day!
