Provenance: French private collection, catalogued in the collection as acquired on December 10, 1982 at Drouot (expert Kevorkian).
A raja is represented on a silver throne, holding a flower in his hand, assisted behind him by two attendants who fan him with chauris. The ruler is giving audience to four notables seated before him with talwar swords and shields. The painting has an inscription in Persian in black ink, as well as three inscriptions in Devanagari in white. On the back of the painting, a handwritten note from the former owner describes the scene, and specifies the provenance "Kevorkian 10 XII 82".
